Toning and soothing
The Damask rose (Rosa damascena, from the plant family Rosaceae) grows across Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia, India and China. It is a deciduous shrub with thorns and leathery leaves, followed by fragrant flowers.
Roses are grown all over the globe. They are native to the temperate regions of Northern hemisphere, primarily to Asia, with some species being native to Northwest Africa, Europe and Northern America.
Rose is said to have been the first floral essential oil to be distilled and has been important in fragrances and flavours for thousands of years. Rose oil has been highly valued throughout history.
Rose-based ingredients are particularly suited to mature, dry and sensitive skins, but are excellent for all skin types. Rose petals are the source of rose oil, which is a complex material with a distinctive, sweet, perfume-like aroma.
We add fresh, finely chopped rose petals to our BB Seaweed fresh face mask for their toning and soothing qualities on the skin. We also use the petals to calm the scalp in our Soak and Float shampoo bars.
