A refugee is a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution or violence. In response to the ongoing refugee crisis, many Singaporeans have stepped forward to take actions for refugees. This World Refugee Day, let’s come together to send a message of hope.
This is the largest humanitarian crisis of our time. There were 21.3 million refugees worldwide in 2015, including 3.8 million refugees in Asia Pacific, and over half of them are children.
Refugees are just like you and me – regular people looking to live and work in a place where they feel safe.

Our Campaign Partner- Advocates for Refugees (Singapore)
Advocates for Refugees - Singapore (AFR-SG) is a ground-up, volunteer-led movement working for the cause of refugees and forced migration in our region and beyond.
To mark World Refugee Day on every 20 June, AFR-SG organises Refugee Awareness Week (RAW), an annual weeklong event. This year, RAW will be held from 20 - 25 June 2017. Over this week, a series of activities will be rolled out to commemorate the strength, courage and resilience of millions of refugees as well as to shine light on the challenges refugees face while searching for safety. Activities include human library, marketplace, songs and painting, and public consultations.
